This thermowell is specially made to cover a female 1/2" BSP thread thus you can use a digital thermometer to replace a dial thermometer in the still or lid.
Not like other thermowell you can find in the market, it has same thread direction with the probe thus you can block the female thread with this thermowell and use a digital thermometer.
You can simply screw off the dial thermometer and screw on this thermowell and place the probe of the digital thermometer into the thermowell.
For better results, you can seal the gap between the probe and thermowell with a piece of blue tack.
